My heart is heavy with the events of the past few weeks, and the nauseating knowledge that they have only brought public attention to the deep-seated systemic racism and institutional violence that exists constantly and chronically in the fabric of our nation.  I’ve struggled with trying to put my emotions and thoughts into words regarding the egregious violation of human rights in our country.  I feel like anything I say isn’t enough, or that the more I raise my voice the more apparent my privilege becomes.  However, silence has contributed to the state of our nation.  Saying something is more important than trying to say it perfectly.

This is not a political issue; it’s a human rights issue.  I grieve for those who have lost their lives, loved ones, innocence, safety and security, and opportunity as a result of prejudice and discrimination.  We need to use our voice to help drive change and support the path to healing. The crisis of systemic racism in America is something that demands action and attention from all of us. We want to help create long-term change and will continue to seek out ways to be part of the progress, as individual coaches, as a gym, and as a community. We are strong.

We are committed to Forged Barbell being a safe space.  Our core values include equality for every human.  We believe everyone deserves access to quality coaching.  We will never compromise these values as they are foundational to the existence of Forged Barbell from its inception.  We will meet each one of you exactly where you are physically, emotionally, and spiritually every day.  We are here to support you and help you build strength.  Your definition of strength is yours. Together, we are strong.

We’re proud of the community we’ve built together over the past 2 years, one that leads with love and one where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.  You are that community.  Thank you for continuing to show up for each other.  We are strong.

We stand with the Black community.
We are watching, learning, and listening. We are here for you. We want to hear what you have to say. We have a long way to go to make things right. But we must make them right. Together.

We see you.
We hear you.
We stand with you.
